Scott Arniel reveals Josh Morrissey’s imminent return, boosting the Jets’ blue line and potent offense as they push towards their goal-scoring pace.

The Winnipeg Jets were hopeful they would regain star defenseman Josh Morrissey immediately following the Olympic break, but that return has taken longer than anticipated.

While representing Team Canada, head coach Jon Cooper indicated he believed the 30-year-old Calgary native would be available for one of the final games of the tournament. However, Morrissey ultimately did not return to action before the event concluded.

Since rejoining Winnipeg, Morrissey has now missed four consecutive games. Despite his absence, the Jets have managed to stay on track, collecting points in three straight contests as they prepare for Tuesday’s matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Head coach Scott Arniel provided a more encouraging update on Monday, revealing that Morrissey could be ready to return Saturday when Winnipeg faces the Vancouver Canucks. Arniel emphasized how significant Morrissey’s presence is to the lineup, pointing to his elite two-way impact and importance as one of the club’s top offensive contributors from the blue line.

Through 56 games this season, Morrissey has tallied 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points. He remains on pace to approach the 60-point mark for the fourth consecutive year, further underscoring his value as one of the league’s premier all-around defensemen.
