Ditching traditional designs for a bold Aurora Borealis gradient, Winnipeg’s latest look swaps classic blues for a striking midnight aesthetic inspired by the magic of the Northern Lights.
On Monday, the Winnipeg Jets released their Hometown Remix jersey, and for the first time, it appears the franchise is sporting a radical new look.
In the MLB, the Toronto Blue Jays recently introduced new jerseys with a black-on-black night style design with blue and red accents, and it appears the Jets went in a similar direction, using the gradient look to full effect. The Jets have also largely never featured designs on the sleeves of their jerseys, so the gradient on the sleeves gives Winnipeg yet another major new look.
The response from fans was largely positive, with some pleading with the Jets to start selling the jerseys so they could buy them. It appears to be Winnipeg's most radical new take on its signature uniforms in some time, and it will be an interesting sight when the Jets hit the ice in them for the first time.
Some fans expressed their excitement over the jersey release through humour and praise. One user, @CallumHCKY, joked that he loved the new jerseys so much that he had made one his phone wallpaper.
Another user, Scott Smith, shared a Futurama GIF featuring the phrase “Shut up and take my money,” while user Val Parker described the jerseys as a “perfect addition to the best-looking jerseys in the league.”
