Comrie’s stellar .946 save percentage fuels Winnipeg's surge, securing crucial wins and propelling the Jets into playoff contention with timely stops.

The Winnipeg Jets have quietly climbed back into the playoff race and now sit just four points out of a postseason spot thanks to a strong run of play over the past two months.

While several players across the lineup have elevated their game during the stretch, one of the most important and least talked about contributors has been backup goaltender Eric Comrie.

With starting netminder Connor Hellebuyck carrying a heavy workload for much of the season, Comrie has stepped in and delivered steady performances that have helped keep the Jets moving in the right direction while giving Hellebuyck valuable rest.

Since a start on New Year’s Day, Comrie has been nearly flawless. The 29-year-old goaltender has won five consecutive starts while allowing just seven goals over that stretch. During that span he has posted an outstanding .946 save percentage, providing Winnipeg with dependable goaltending whenever his number has been called.

The Jets have been one of the hotter teams in the conference during the second half of the season. Winnipeg has compiled a 13-6-5 record over its last 24 games, a stretch that has dramatically improved its place in the standings and brought the club within striking distance of a playoff berth.

That momentum has continued since the league resumed play following the Winter Olympics break. In the ten games since returning, the Jets have gone 6-2-2 as they continue to close the gap on the teams ahead of them.
