Stanley Cup champion and hometown hero Jonathan Toews marks 38. His legendary career journey from Blackhawks captain to Winnipeg's steady presence continues.
On Wednesday, Winnipeg Jets center Jonathan Toews celebrated his 38th birthday, having been born on this day in 1988 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The longtime captain of the Chicago Blackhawks built one of the most accomplished resumes of his generation, winning three Stanley Cups (2010, 2013, 2015), a Conn Smythe Trophy (2010), a Frank J. Selke Trophy (2013), and the Mark Messier Leadership Award (2015), while also earning six NHL All-Star Game selections. Across 1,145 regular-season games, Toews has recorded 383 goals and 529 assists for 912 points and a career plus-128 rating.
After his historic career in Chicago, Toews eventually returned home, signing with his hometown Winnipeg Jets. In his first season back in Manitoba, Toews settled into a steady role as a third-line center. He finished the 82-game season with 11 goals and 18 assists for 29 points, providing depth production in a support role.
While no longer operating as a primary offensive driver, he contributed veteran leadership, defensive reliability, and matchup versatility throughout the year. From Stanley Cup-winning captain to hometown veteran presence, Toews’ career arc remains one of the most decorated and respected in modern NHL history.
