A big tournament on the scouting calendar for OHL teams is taking place in Etobicoke, Ontario, down at the Cwench Centre and Westwood Arena. The Toronto Marlboros Holiday Classic has the top 2010-born players eligible for the 2026 OHL Draft, showcasing their potential to scouts.

Some of the big teams like Detroit Little Caesars, Detroit HoneyBaked, and Toronto Jr. Canadiens are not taking part in the event, but there’s still plenty of talent on showcase.

The round of 16 took place on Monday afternoon. One of the marquee matchups was between two GTHL teams who are neck-and-neck in their regular season standings.

The Don Mills Flyers faced off against the Mississauga Senators. These two teams faced off back on Dec. 4, with the Flyers pulling out a close 3-1 victory. The Senators couldn’t get their revenge, but it was another tight match, with Don Mills narrowly edging out Mississauga 4-3.

Another exciting game was between one of the top teams in the OMHA this season, the Credit River Capitals, and the red-hot hosts, the Toronto Marlboros.

The Marlboros keep climbing the OHL Cup weekly rankings list, moving up to the number seven spot in the OHL’s latest ranking. The hosts took care of business, advancing to the quarterfinals with a 5-2 win over the Capitals.

The quarterfinals are as follow below. In brackets are their OHL Cup ranking, HM = Honorable Mention:

Hill Academy (8) vs. Upper Canada College (3)
Toronto Marlboros (7) vs. Vaughan Kings (4)
Ajax-Pickering Raiders (HM) vs. Don Mills Flyers (9)
Barrie Colts vs. London Jr. Knights (6)
