OHL teams selected 28 players in the 2024 CHL Import Draft
OHL teams looked to bolster their rosters for the upcoming seasons in hopes of recruiting their recently drafted European players in the CHL Import Draft on Wednesday, July 3.
OHL teams selected 28 players in the draft and of note, this was the first year that Russian and Belarussian players were eligible to be chosen since the war between Russia and Ukraine started.
Six players selected were recently drafted in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Leading the way were the Windsor Spitfires who were the first OHL team on the board. They drafted Washington Capitals 2024 third-rounder, left winger Ilya Protas, who played last year in the USHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers (51 points in 61 games).
