Eastern Conference finalists Brantford and Barrie make a deal to move veteran Luca Testa
The Barrie Colts have acquired forward Luca Testa from the Brantford Bulldogs in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2030 OHL Priority Selection and a conditional 14th-round pick in the 2029 OHL Priority Selection, the team has announced.
In a press release, Colts General Manager Marty Williamson praised the recently acquired Testa as a player the team has been monitoring, having been impressed by his postseason play.
We’ve liked what Luca has brought to the table for a while now, but it was really his compete level in the playoffs last year that stood out to us
Brantford General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Spencer Hyman praised Testa as someone who represented the Bulldogs "with pride", and wished him success.
We want to thank Luca for everything he has given to the Bulldogs organization. He has been a great teammate, a great person and someone who represented our organization with pride. We’re grateful for his commitment and all the memories he helped create during his time here. We wish Luca and his family nothing but success in this next chapter. Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.
Testa, 20, appeared in 50 games this season for Brantford, scoring 15 goals and 26 points. Testa had four goals and five points in 15 games for the Bulldogs in the OHL playoffs.
Barrie and Brantford met in the Eastern Conference finals, with the Colts winning in seven games. Testa went without a point against Barrie, but was one of the Bulldogs leading shot takers in the series.
An overage forward, Testa is an up-tempo forward who can play both at center and on the wing. Testa was drafted by the London Knights in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection, 15th overall, dealt to Brantford in his rookie year.
Testa has appeared in 167 career OHL games, 152 with Brantford and 15 with London, with 37 goals, 33 assists, & 70 points. Testa has 32 career postseason OHL games with six goals and seven points.
