Kitchener adds depth to their forward grouping with 2006-born winger Andrew Vermeulen

The Kitchener Rangers announced on Tuesday that they had acquired forward Andrew Vermeulen from the Niagara IceDogs

The Rangers gave up a 9th round pick in the 2028 draft in exchange for the 2006-born forward

Vermeulen was drafted in the 4th round, 71st overall by the IceDogs in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. The Selkirk, Ontario native played for the U16 Niagara North Stars AAA in his draft year and led the team in scoring at the OHL Cup with five points in four games.

The 6-foot-1 winger appeared in 47 games for Niagara last season, recording five goals and nine points.

Andrew will contest for a fourth line role on the team for the upcoming season, but the organization believes that he’s just scratching the surface of what kind of player he can be.

Vermeulen will wear No. 27 on his new team. He is set to join the Rangers for their final preseason matchup on Saturday, Sept. 21 against the Brantford Bulldogs.
