The Peterborough Petes lose forward Gerry DiCunzolo to the NTDP

The United States National Team Development Program (NTDP) have announced the signing of Peterborough Petes forward Gerry DiCunzolo.

DiCunzolo, 17, is one of three signings by the NTDP for the U18 roster along with Minnesota high school forwards Griffin Storey and Jackson Hendricks.

NTDP Director of Personnel Rod Braceful welcomed the three to the program, praising all three as players who can contribute to the team with each having "unique qualities".

We look forward to helping them continue to develop, compete at the highest level and represent the NTDP while wearing the crest with pride.

DiCunzolo, an NCAA commit to Penn State University, spent last season in the Ontario Hockey League with Peterborough, scoring four goals, five assists, & nine points in 39 games for the club. DiCuonzolo had a goal and six points at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup.

According to Petes General Manager Michael Oke, DiCunzolo will rejoin Peterborough for the 2027-28 OHL season.

The NTDP's addition come as multiple players on the U18 roster left the program following the end of their U17 season, including 2027 NHL Draft projected first round pick Carter Meyer, who chose to forgo joining the U18's for the QMJHL's Quebec Remparts.

The Americans lost forwards Alexander Milojevic to the OHL, having signed with the Saginaw Spirit. Trevor Daley Jr. to the Soo Greyhounds, Kane Barch to the London Knights, and defenseman Broden McArthur to the Erie Otters.

Defenseman Jake Boguniecki has been linked with a move to the Moncton Wildcats in the QMJHL, but no deal has been announced. Cannon Thibodeau has been rumored to join the Barrie Colts, but it is expected to happen next year rather than this upcoming season.
