Week three of the OHL's regular season has concluded and before we get into week four, here are our three stars of the week.
For reference, week three's three stars are for games between Oct. 7 and Oct. 14. Without further ado, let's dive into the three players who played at an elite level this past week.
A couple of undrafted older forwards were front and center in helping their teams to multiple victories in week three, while a Chicago Blackhawks prospect showcased his goal-scoring prowess.
#14 Calvin Crombie of the Brantford BulldogsThe Brantford Bulldogs started the season 1-3 after their first four games. The Bulldogs are supposed to be contenders for the best team in the East, and after a rough start, they displayed their might with three wins in week three against Sarnia, Ottawa, and Kingston.
Offensively, they were led by a couple of forwards — Calvin Crombie and Nick Lardis.
No player had a better offensive week than the 2005-born forward Crombie. He recorded nine assists and 10 points, notching three helpers in all three of Brantford's wins. An even more impressive feat is that he scored all 10 points at even strength.
Additionally, he mixed it up and fought Sarnia's captain Lukas Fischer during the first period of that matchup.
After a tough start to the season for Crombie (recording only one assist in his first four games), he showed that the team can rely on him to produce offensively up their lineup this past week.
#16 Nick Lardis of the Brantford BulldogsYou may ask, "Who was Crombie setting up with all those assists?" That would've been the Chicago Blackhawks' 2023 third-rounder, Nick Lardis.
Lardis recorded a hat trick and four points against Sarnia last Wednesday before capping off his Thanksgiving weekend with a two-goal, three-point performance against Ottawa, and another tally against Kingston.
Crombie assisted on all six of Lardis' goals, four of which were primary assists.
Nick is a goalscorer. Of his 163 career OHL points, 92 are goals. He's extremely adept at working his way into scoring areas and wastes no time getting his shot off. He sits second behind Michael Misa in goals to start the season (eight) and has recorded three multi-goal games already in 2024-25.
If Brantford is to finish in the top three of the Eastern Conference this season, they will need this level of production from their star winger consistently.
#10 Adrian Misaljevic of the Kitchener RangersHow about some love to the Kitchener Rangers after their abysmal start to the season? Since going 0-2-1, which included a 12-2 lashing by the hands of Windsor on opening week, the Rangers are 4-0-1.
Kitchener doesn't have a superstar-caliber forward on their roster this season, but the offense has been provided via committee, and overage forward Adrian Misaljevic is leading the charge.
Misaljevic scored three goals and totaled seven points in the three games he played last week. Kitchener won 3-2 against the Flint Firebirds, with their leading scorer Misaljevic contributing to all three goals.
Then, the Rangers went into Saginaw to face the defending Memorial Cup champs. They showcased their firepower by beating the Spirit 7-4, which included a two-goal, four-point performance from their 2004-born winger.
The Woodbridge, Ontario native enters his fourth and final year after displaying massive growth in his game last season. That strong play appears to have carried over.
