Ruslan Gazizov's run in the OHL has officially come to an end. On Friday, the AHL's San Diego Gulls announced that they had signed the Russian forward to a one-year contract before the start of the 2024-25 season.
Gazizov spent three seasons in the OHL, all with the London Knights. He was drafted 12th overall in the 2021 CHL Import Draft and recorded 69 goals and 157 points in 173 regular season games.
Ruslan finished first on London in goals last season with a career-high 36 goals and third in points with 81. En route to capturing the 2024 OHL Championship with the Knights, the skilled winger scored seven times and racked up 14 points in 15 games.
The Russian winger came into the league as a highly-skilled offensive forward with the ability to make highlight-reel plays with the puck.
Under veteran Head Coach Dale Hunter, Gazizov increased his physical play and started to play a bit more of an agitator role.
