Windsor took game three at home to cut their series deficit in half.

With the Kitchener Rangers taking the first two games of the Western conference final at home, the Windsor Spitfires needed to use home ice to their advantage in game three to get back in the series.

That's just what they did on Monday night, grabbing the lead early and never giving it up to cut the series to 2-1 in favour of the Rangers.

Here's what happened in game three.

With the series shifting to the WFCU Centre, the Spitfires needed to get going early to get their home crowd into the game.

That's exactly what Jakub Fibigr did just 1:55 into game three, firing a power-play goal past Christian Kirsch to give the hosts a big lead.

Alex Pharand would double that lead later in the first, before Christian Humphreys got Kitchener back within a goal with under four to go in the opening frame.

The second would come and go with no goals to show for it, though the ice was tilted towards the Rangers. Still, Windsor went into the third holding that narrow one-goal lead.

It would be 18-year-old blueliner Andrew Robinson with his second goal of the postseason that would extend that lead, just 24 seconds into the third period.

That gave the Spits some insurance, something that was very much needed as Cameron Arquette scored with five minutes left to get the Rangers back within one.

The visitors would continue to push, but couldn't solve Joey Costanzo again, and Ethan Garden potted one into an empty cage to seal a massive game three win for Windsor.

The home team has now won all three games in this Western conference final, a trend the Spitfires hope they can continue into Wednesday's game four.
