The Sharks land a future top pairing defenseman in London Knights defenseman Sam Dickinson in the first round of the NHL Draft

The San Jose Sharks have drafted London Knights defenseman Sam Dickinson in the the first round, 11th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

After landing future franchise centerman Macklin Celebrini first overall, the Sharks tackle the future of their blueline by adding a potential top pairing defenseman in Sam Dickinson.

Dickinson has the potential to become a complete two-way defenseman in the NHL. There are no weaknesses in his game. He can lead the attack up ice and defends at an exceptionally high level with his mobility and size. He’s the complete package.

The London Knights defenseman mentioned at the draft combine that he likes to model his game after Miro Heiskanen, which is a perfect comparison for Dickinson.

Dickinson played with fellow San Jose first-rounder Kasper Halttunen in London, winning the OHL Championship this past season. The Sharks organization would have had a lot of up-close viewings on Dickinson and they are probably lucky that he fell into their laps at 11th overall.
