Jacob Reese will not play in the OHL as an overager, instead choosing to head to the NCAA after one year of OHL play.
Sarnia Sting defenseman Jacob Reese has made his choice of where he'll play for the 2026-27 campaign.
The 20-year-old blueliner is heading to the NCAA, joining the University of Connecticut Huskies for next season.
Reese, a Boston, NY, native, played just one season in Sarnia after joining the team from the Rochester Jr. Americans of the NAHL.
Jacob Reese played one season with the Sarnia Sting. (Photo: Natalie Shaver/OHL Images)A physical defender, the 6-foot blueliner put up five goals, 15 assists and 101 penalty minutes in his lone OHL season, playing in a middle of the lineup role on a Sting team that missed the playoffs.
Now, he gets to join a very respected NCAA program at UConn, playing alongside fellow OHL commits such as Lirim Amidovski, Cole Davis and more.
For Sarnia, Reese was a potential option as an overager, and now the team is likely in the market for another blueliner ahead of next season.
The Sting have made a good amount of additions up front to a team desperate to make it back to the postseason, and should boast a good amount of talent heading into next year, headlined by Alessandro Di Iorio, Simon Katolicky and recent fourth overall pick Adrian Sgro.
