O'Dell has chosen to sign in Windsor over going the USHL path.
While the heat of signing season has mostly slowed down for teams across the OHL, there are still a few front offices looking to fill a few roster spots before training camps begin in a little over a month's time.
One of those teams is the Windsor Spitfires, who announced Tuesday the signing of American free agent defenseman Jack O'Dell.
O'Dell, 16, has chosen to take the OHL path over the USHL, where he was taken in the second round of the 2026 draft by Dubuque.
The Chicago native joins Windsor out of the prep school program in Massachusetts, where he played last season with Phillips Acacdemy Andover, as well as the NV River Rats 16U team.
For Phillips, O'Dell scored 12 goals and nine assists in 30 games, an intriguing stat line for a 6-foot-2 blueliner.
He'll join a team in Windsor that's heading into a retool after losing a number of key pieces after this year's run to the Western conference final.
While O'Dell has no current active NCAA commitment, a strong year or two with the Spitfires will surely see him garner plenty of interest for the future.
