Sarnia has added the Wisconsin-born right-shot defender ahead of next season.

Now that all but two OHL teams are officially in offseason mode, it's the time where teams begin to build their teams for the 2026-27 season.

The Sarnia Sting got going with that on Thursday, announcing the signing of American defenseman Wyatt Herres.

The 19-year-old split last season with the Waterloo Black Hawks and Chicago Steel of the USHL, where he recorded a combined 16 (4+12) points in 44 games.

Herres, a Neenah, WI native, grew up playing mostly with the Team Wisconsin youth program, as well as at Notre Dame academy in the state's high school system.

He then joined the Wisconsin Windigo of the NAHL before becoming the 11th overall pick in the 2025 USHL entry draft, where he joined Waterloo.

Now, he'll join a Sting team looking to get back into the playoffs for the first time since 2023, and the team hopes he will be a good locker room presence and mentor for the younger players entering the fold, as well as be a key defender for the group.

Herres is committed to the NCAA's UMass-Lowell for the 2027-28 season, which he'll join following his year in the OHL.
