Now that we are into the last quarter of the OHL Regular Season, here is a top 5 redraft of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.

    1st Overall: Erie Otters

Redraft Pick: Ryan Roobroeck (Originally Picked 2nd by NIA)

    Original Pick: Matthew Schaefer

Ryan Roobroeck gets the honours of being re-drafted 1st overall by the Erie Otters. This season with the Niagara IceDogs, Roobroeck has proven that he can score in bunches at the OHL level. On a team with bleak talent, Roobroeck has been able to take his game to another level.

He has been able to round out his game in several ways, including improving his skating and work ethic, batting down some of the concerns he got in his draft year. It is no question that Roobroeck can score, and he has been able to bring that to the major junior level.

    2nd Overall: Niagara IceDogs

Redraft Pick: Jake O'Brien (Originally Picked 8th by BFD)

    Original Pick: Ryan Roobroeck

I'm sure the Niagara IceDogs are happy with Roobroeck at 2nd overall, but in this redraft they would select Jake O'Brien. O'Brien is leading all rookies in scoring as a 2007-born player, and he has been able to use his vision to create at this level.

O'Brien has recently made Bulldogs history with the most points by a rookie. His vision and playmaking abilities are high-end. He has been on the Bulldogs first line for a lot of this season, as he and Marek Vanacker have been generating a majority of their offence.

    3rd Overall: Soo Greyhounds

Redraft Pick: Brady Martin (Originally Picked 3rd by SOO)

    Original Pick: Brady Martin

Despite other rookies having higher production than him, I believe the Greyhounds would still select Brady Martin at number three. Martin is the complete package, he has a lethal shot, physical strength, and high offensive vision.

He was injured for a good chunk of time earlier this season, and has 18 points in 39 games. The Soo also have a very deep lineup, where Martin is not getting a ton of opportunities. He still has a very high ceiling as a potential first round pick in his draft class.

    4th Overall: Kingston Frontenacs

Redraft Pick: Matthew Schaefer (Originally Picked 1st by ER)

    Original Pick: Tyler Hopkins

If Schaefer were here at number four, the Frontenacs would not be able to pass on him. I believe they would have been better to select a defenceman at this spot, whether that is Schaefer or potentially Carson Cameron (PBO). The Frontenacs struggle to keep the puck out of their net, and they rarely get production from their blue line. Schaefer would give their back end a whole new look.

Schaefer hasn't exactly exploded in his rookie season, but his smooth skating, vision, and passing ability is still consistent at this level of play. He will be that number one defenceman for an OHL team, as he can do it all.

    5th Overall: Niagara IceDogs

Redraft Pick: Tanner Lam (Originally Picked 41st by KIT)

    Original Pick: Ethan Czata

A player like Tanner Lam would completely set off Niagara's offence, especially alongside Ryan Roobroeck. The idea of this pair is absolutely electric. With Lam's speed and creativity, and Roobroeck's shot, these two would be lethal together on the same line.

Their original pick Ethan Czata has developed into a two-way middle-six centre this season, where Lam would likely play on the IceDogs' first line.
