Early Sunday morning, Oshawa Generals forward Brooks Rogowski announced his commitment to play D1 hockey in the NCAA for Michigan State University. He is expected to return and play his sophomore season in the OHL for the 2025-26 season.

It’s been quite a busy last week or so for Rogowski. He was recently named to USA’s roster for the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where the spotlight will be even larger after announcing his commitment to one of the top NCAA schools.

With all things considered for a 16-year-old, the Brighton, Michigan native had a very productive rookie season with the Generals. He recorded 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 66 games, only missing two games in the entire regular season. He added another 6 points (3 goals, 3 assists) in 19 playoff games, playing in a depth, energy role for Oshawa en route to another OHL Finals appearance.

Rogowski’s towering 6-foot-6, 228-pound frame has scouts salivating over what his ceiling could be at the NHL level. He’s eligible for the 2026 NHL Draft and showcasing improvements in his offensive skill set and play driving capabilities could vault him into first-round consideration.

Michigan State has been able to target OHL players and recruit them over the border. They made the big splash in landing Brampton Steelheads captain, and Philadelphia Flyers sixth overall pick in 2025, Porter Martone, earlier in July.

They have also recruited top goal scorer from the 2023-24 season, Anthony Romani, and stud Soo Greyhounds defenseman, Chase Reid.
