The 18-year-old has been a big scorer at lower levels, and now gets a chance in the QMJHL.
The Baie-Comeau Drakkar have brought in some reinforcement after a tough start to the season, signing Jr. A standout Tate Collins on Friday.
Collins, 18, joins the Drakkar from the OJHL's Toronto Patriots, where he's put up 19 (8+11) points in just seven games. He's also appeared in two games this season with the BCHL's Victoria Grizzlies, going pointless.
The Huntsville, Ont., native was an OHL draft pick in 2023, going to the Owen Sound Attack in the 14th round. While he never was able to crack a major junior lineup in Ontario, he's been a legitimate star at the Jr. A level, even playing for Canada East at the World Jr. A Championships this past season.

They sit dead last in goals for with just 12, and their -19 goal difference is also tied for the worst mark in the QMJHL.
Collins should bring some offensive skill and scoring ability to the forward group, which could help them score at least a few more goals as they try to climb out of the basement.
