The Cape Breton Eagles announced yesterday that they have dropped overage left winger Dylan Andrews.
Andrews, 20, has picked up six points (3+3) across eight games since joining the Eagles late last month.
Before Cape Breton, he had been playing with the West Kent Steamers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League and was able to pot 15 points (7+8) across just 10 games.
Andrews has played in 214 games in the QMJHL, all-in-all, scoring 94 points (37+58) between the Eagles and the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
With the Titan, he was mostly a middle-of-the-line up player, but with the Eagles he was able to produce at a top-six rate.
Should the team find one of their overagers injured or on the chopping block, we could very well see Andrews back in the league given his impressive run thus far.
In the meantime, he'll rejoin the Steamers -- where he still remains a top-three point-scorer despite his month-long stint in Cape Breton.
This news came after the team announced the return of overage defenseman Brayden Schmitt from injury.
Both Lucas Romeo and Angelo Fullerton have since returned to the ice, but Schmitt was the last one held out of the lineup.
The assistant captain returned to the team for yesterday's game against the Victoriaville Tigres and even though the former 49 point scoring defenseman was held off the scoresheet, his presence seemed to ignite the Eagles as they blew out the Tigres 6-2.
Schmitt's return could very well be the boost the Eagles need to jump back into contention as they currently sit with a 9-9-2 record.
