The 17-year-old will fill the third and final import spot on Newfoundland.
The 2026-27 QMJHL season is right around the corner, and it's just about time for teams to finalize their rosters by the time the puck drops later this week.
The Newfoundland Regiment have got an import signing done and ready, with German forward Nikita Bloch added to the roster ahead of the regular season.
Bloch, 17, joins Newfoundland from the RB Salzburg system in Austria, where he split last season between the Austrian U20 and AlpsHL teams.
He put up five (2+3) points in 26 games with the first team playing against men, and dominated the U20 ranks with 24 (17+7) points in 18 games.
Bloch also has plenty of international experience playing with the German youth teams, representing his country at the U16 and U18 levels over the years. At this year's U18 Worlds, he scored two goals in five games.
The German will occupy the third and final import spot for Newfoundland this season, joining Russian forward Dmitry Kubantsev and Swedish blueliner William Lundqvist as the three European players on this roster.
The Regiment are looking to build off a very solid debut season in St. John's, where the team enjoyed a run to the second round of the postseason, falling to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada in six games.
Their second season begins on Friday with a home opener against the Saint John Sea Dogs at 5:30 p.m. ET.
