The Val-d'Or Foreurs have acquired overage winger Maxime Coursol and a 2028 second-round pick from the Rimouski Océanic in exchange for future considerations.

Coursol, 20, is coming off a 22-goal, 42-point season in Rimouski, as well as scoring 14 points in 23 playoff games in the Océanic's playoff run. The former 12th overall pick in the 2021 QMJHL draft posted 58 goals and 134 points across 210 games in his four seasons in Rimouski.

Injuries and a loaded Océanic roster has caused his scoring to slide from over a point-per-game in 2023-24 to sliding under that mark last season.

Likely suiting up alongside Philippe Veilleux and Nathan Brisson, the Foreurs are hoping Coursol can finally break out into a true offensive dynamo as the team looks to contend this season.

Coursol has yet to commit to any USports or NCAA program, however a big year should open up some doors down south.
