The finals matchup is set with the Memorial Cup host Rimouski Océanic to take on the No. 1 ranked Moncton Wildcats.

Islanders Forward Simek Signs In Czechia Islanders Forward Simek Signs In Czechia After three seasons in the QMJHL, forward Pavel Simek has decided to return home to Czechia to sign with Mountfield HK of the Czech Extraliga for the 2025-26 season.

On the otherhand, this means that their foes from the semi-finals, the Shawinigan Cataractes and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies have found themselves out of the playoff race.

For the Cataractes, this might have been the team's last chance at true contention with rumours of Calgary Flames first round pick Matvei Gridin turning pro as of next season, thanks to being drafted to the NHL from outside of major junior.

This doesn't mean that Gridin cannot play QMJHL next season, and if he does the team may even take a step forward. However it cannot be understated what losing a player of that calibre could be.

On the other hand, the Huskies have around a season left in their window as well. While it's true that they'll suffer the departure of overager Antonin Verreault, 2025 NHL draft eligible Bill Zonnon will have one more season of eligibility and a decent chunk of the core shall remain.

However, the team will have to make some tough decisions on overagers next season as they have many players who could be worthy of one of those three slots, including Thomas Verdon, Axel Dufresne, Remi Gelinas, Benjamin Brunelle and Samuel Rousseau.
