Armada's Goriunov Turns Pro, Joins Montreal Canadiens' System
Just a few days after Drummondville's goaltender Riley Mercer signed with the <a href="https://thn.com/ahl">AHL</a> affiliate of the <a href="https://thn.com/minnesota">Minnesota Wild</a>, the <a href="https://thn.com/montreal">Montreal Canadiens</a>' system have plucked a player of their own from the QMJHL.
The 20-year-old forward is coming off of a 25-point (10+15) season across 52 games between the Rimouski Océanic and the Charlottetown Islanders.
Foregoing his overage season, this effectively wraps up Simek's three season major junior career -- amassing 92 points (40+52) over 192 games between the Saint John Sea Dogs, Océanic and Islanders.
This move leaves the Islanders with likely one sole import should they look to bring back 17-year-old Russian defenseman Nikita Voyaga (6 in 46).
