Recap: Sea Dogs Hold Off Mooseheads Comeback, Grab OT Win

The third weekend of QMJHL action has come to a close, after a very busy Sunday across the league.

One of the seven games was a Maritime battle between Saint John and Halifax, with the Sea Dogs taking home a big victory.

These matchups out east have been pretty close all year between the Maritime teams, and this one was no different.

Halifax got the scoring going early through Mateo Nobert, but a pair of quick-strike power-play goals from Alex Donovan and Alexis Joseph gave Saint John their first lead of the night.

Matys Cancik followed that up with his first career QMJHL goal, giving the Sea Dogs a 3-1 lead. Duncan Anderson would follow that just 35 seconds later with a first career goal of his own, which would leave the score at 3-2 for the hosts after a busy opening frame.

The second period would go goalless, though it had a good number of shots and chances.

The Mooseheads still needed that tying goal as they entered the third, though. They'd find it on the man advantage through Shawn Carrier, scoring his first of the campaign to fully erase the earlier two-goal deficit and tie the game up with about 12 minutes to play in regulation.

There were no answers the rest of the third, meaning bonus hockey was needed in order to separate these two. It wouldn't take long for Brandon Delarosbil to play hero, scoring his first as a Sea Dog just 30 seconds into overtime.

Jamie Glance had three assists on the night, while Samuel Meloche made 26 saves en route to the victory.
