The Sherbrooke-born goaltender heads home in a trade.

The Sherbrooke Phoenix announced via Twitter/X that they acquired the signing rights to Sherbrooke-born goaltender Kyan Labbe from the Saint John Sea Dogs for a 2026 third round pick.

This week, the Union College commit was removed off of the roster of the BCHL's Nanaimo Clippers after posting a measly .889 save percentage over three games.

The 5-foot-9 netminder had the second highest save percentage in Quebec U-18 AAA, dropping a .934 save percentage over 25 games with the Magog Cantonniers.

With the move, it's likely that the Phoenix will drop one of their goaltenders, presumably Jacob Brochu.

Brochu, 19, has an .870 save percentage across 11 games with Sherbrooke this season, with his average save percentage worsening each month this season.

The 2025 NHL draft candidate is the son of former NHL goaltender Jean-Francois Labbe, who played in 15 games in the big league with the New York Rangers and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
