    The Victoriaville Tigres have acquired right winger Xavier Sabourin from the Cape Breton Eagles in exchange for a 2025 second (from the Acadie-Bathurst Titan) and a 2026 second (from the Val-d'Or Foreurs.

    Sabourin, 16, has 27 points (14+13) across 27 games with the Châteauguay Grenadiers of the Quebec Under-18 AAA league. 

    He was taken with the 27th overall selection in the 2024 QMJHL Draft, and had not signed a QMJHL contract with the Eagles.

    The 2026 NHL Draft prospect has no NCAA affiliation as of yet.]

    Another trade

    The Cape Breton Eagles have separately acquired the rights to 2005-born goaltender Alexis Cournoyer from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar for a ninth round pick in 2027.

    Cournoyer, 19, last played in the QMJHL in the 2022-23 season, posting an .800 save percentage across two games with the Shawinigan Cataractes. He currently has a .927 over 21 games with the Truro Bobcats of the Maritime Junior Hockey League.
