Moncton might've landed their next big fish, acquiring 17-year-old blueliner Boguniecki's rights from Gatineau.
As the busy start of the summer trade period rolls along, the Moncton Wildcats have seemingly made a very interesting addition to their squad.
That is indeed acquiring the rights to USNTDP blueliner Jake Boguniecki from the Gatineau Olympiques, a sought-after prospect who's eligible for the 2027 NHL draft.
In return, Gatineau will receive a second-round pick in the 2028 QMJHL draft, Moncton's own selection.
Boguniecki, 17, is a right-shot blueliner who is more of a defensive anchor and physical player than a puck-mover or offensive type. While he hasn't put up many points with the NTDP, he's played a solid role with the program as a stopper and penalty killer.
It has also been rumoured the Quebec Remparts were after the Orange, CT, native via trade, but it's the Wildcats who get it done in the end.
Now, we wait for official word in terms of Boguniecki's signature in Moncton, but considering the asset they gave up in order to acquire him, that should be a formality.
