ESPN has dropped it's controversial top 100 athletes of the 21st century article, which saw just three NHL players clinch the master list in the QMJHL's Sidney Crosby (#22), Alex Ovechkin (#54) and Connor McDavid (#98).

Sidney Crosby (Rimouski) leads off both his group of QMJHL alumni and the list at the no. 1 spot. Ranked at six is Nathan MacKinnon (Halifax) and just below him is Martin Brodeur (St-Hyacinthe) at seven.

Rounding out the top 10 is a surprising but welcome addition in Patrice Bergeron (Acadie-Bathurst). One would've imagined him as a potential snub for the list, should they have only looked at his production and glossed over his six Selke trophy wins and 12 nominations.

Tampa Bay's star forward Nikita Kucherov (Quebec/Rouyn Noranda) appears at number 17.

Marc-Andre Fleury (Cape Breton) lands at the number 18 slot as the third goalie on the list, below Brodeur and Lundqvist. He also slots just one pick ahead of Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Among the Q's notable snubs are Claude Giroux (Gatineau), Kris Letang (Val-d'Or) and Corey Crawford (Moncton).
