Walker Duehr was placed on NHL waivers on Monday by the San Jose Sharks.
Today marks the second time the winger has gone on waivers this season after the Calgary Flames cut Duehr in January.
Duehr only played eight games for the Sharks and scored two goals. San Jose has Nikolai Kovalenko on injured reserve, but the former Colorado Avalanche forward joined the team on its current road trip in Montreal and has been practicing.
This move could signal Kovalenko's impending return or a possible trade, as the NHL trade deadline is March 7.
Teams will have 24 hours to claim Duehr, and if he goes unclaimed, the winger can be sent to the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL.
