On Tuesday, San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky was hit with his first NHL fine.
San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky was hit with a $25,000 fine on Tuesday for "inappropriate conduct during NHL Game No. 487 against the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday, Dec. 14."
"I'm not gonna get into what happened," Warsofsky said. "We're moving on. It is an emotional sport, and we've got to move on for tonight."
The Sharks fell 4-3 to Utah HC on Saturday, and questions were asked about how the game was officiated. Warsofsky didn't directly say any frustrations about the referee's postgame.
"It's my first time through it, so [I] talked to other coaches throughout the league about it," Warsofsky said. "It is something that I'm trying to get better at. It's kind of who I am, and at the same time, I'm passionate. I wear my emotions on my sleeve. Sometimes, it gets the best of me, but at the end of the day, I gotta have our player's back, and that's not going to change. Do I wish I used different words or whatnot, but at the end of the day, we're all in this together as a group, myself, the coaches, the trainers, the equipment staff, the players, and I'm going to have our players back for as long as I'm here."
Warsofsky said he was fined twice with the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League.
"Yeah, Chicago, the year we won. There was an issue in one of the games, and [I] ran my mouth to the media," Warsofsky explained. "After games, I am a lot more emotional, but it is what it is."
