The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders topped the Des Moines Buccaneers 4-2 in preseason action on Friday night. Here are my standouts and top performers from the game.
Nice game for Milfors, who found the back of the net twice and picked up the primary assist on Jack Sadowski's goal near the end of the first period. Milfors showed a little bit of everything on Friday night, including some physicality in his own zone. However, his power-play blast was a thing of beauty.
Sadowski picked up his first and second points of the preseason, with both coming in that back-and-forth first period. The New Hampshire commit showed good assertiveness following his teammate's initial shot to bury the second-chance opportunity. Sadowski also assisted on one of Milfors' goals with a beautiful feed from below the net.
No points for Hajibi in this one, but that did not stop him from making an impact in the game. The Northeastern commit finished with a team-high four shots on goal, and his forecheck forced a turnover that eventually led to Daniel Astapovich's goal against his former team.
Reyelts made his second appearance of the preseason on Friday and was under heavy pressure for most of the night. The Proctor, Minnesota, native turned aside 25-of-27 on the night, including all 10 in the third period before the RoughRiders added an insurance goal.
Mann had just one shot on goal in the game, but it was one of the prettiest that resulted in a goal. After forcing a turnover, Mann received a drop pass and wired a shot through traffic with a defender in his face. The goal marked his first of the preseason.
