The Chicago Steel used two third-period goals, including Kolin Sisson's second of the night, and held on 3-2 against the Youngstown Phantoms on Saturday night. With the win, the Steel completed the weekend sweep of Muskegon and Youngstown on home ice while improving to a 3-1 record overall.
Youngstown's Michael Mesic found the back of the net for the first time this season just 31 seconds into the first period. Adam Benak intercepted a pass and took it the other way before dishing a cross-ice pass to Mesic.
However, Chicago responded with a power-play goal late in the opening frame to tie the game at one goal apiece. Owen Tylec and William Tomko worked the puck around the point before finding Sisson along the right wing, who fired his shot into the back of the Youngstown net.
Tylec tallied his first goal of the season off an assist from Adam Valentini to put the Steel ahead early in the third period. Less than two minutes later, Sisson notched his second of the game after defenseman Callum Croskery turned his teammate loose on a stretch pass.
The goal marked Sisson's first two-goal game in a Steel sweater and Croskery's second assist of the season.
Mikey Burchill pulled the Phantoms within a goal with 14 seconds left in regulation, but the Steel were able to hold on. Louka Cloutier made his second start of the season and turned aside 27-of-29, including all 11 in the second period.
