Giacomo Martino and Sam Laurila both recorded multi-point games this weekend while Muskegon's Stephen Peck made 45 saves in a road sweep

The USHL announced its seventh Players of the Week on Monday as Sioux City forward Giacomo Martino, Fargo defenseman Sam Laurila and Muskegon goaltender Stephen Peck took home the respective honors for Week 7.

Martino now sits tied for the USHL point lead as both he and teammate Landen Gunderson have 16 on the season. The Northeastern commit had the first four-point game of his USHL career on Saturday, scoring twice and adding two assists in Sioux City’s 5-3 win over Fargo.

Martino has eight points (4-4-8) over his last four games and he’s recorded multiple points in five of his 11 games this season. He’s also one of five USHL skaters tied for second in goals (7).

Speaking of Fargo, Laurila had one of the league’s top performances on the blue line this weekend, picking up three points (1-2-3) – which led all USHL defensemen.

Laurila has made an immediate impact with the Force as he leads all USHL defensemen in points (13) and the North Dakota commit ranks among the league’s ice-time leaders.

Laurila had two assists on Friday as the Force earned a 4-0 win at Des Moines and he scored on Saturday in Sioux City. His goal was his first in a Force sweater and gives Laurila points in four straight games.

Rounding out the group is Peck, as the Michigan commit went 2-0-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .958 save percentage this weekend. Peck made 23 saves on Friday as the Lumberjacks earned a 2-1 win at Cedar Rapids and helped Muskegon polish off the sweep on Saturday, recording 22 saves in a 4-2 win.

Peck is now 3-1-1-1 on the season with a .915 save percentage and 2.47 GAA. He’s made 68 of a possible 72 saves over his last three starts, winning all three of them.
