The USHL announced its Players of the Week on Monday as NTDP forward Lukas Zajic, Lincoln defenseman Etienne Lessard and Muskegon goaltender Stephen Peck took home the respective honors for games played between Feb. 24 and March 2.
Lessard remains one of the league’s top defenders and is coming off a five-point weekend, helping the Stars sweep a pair of games in Fargo. The Stars earned a 7-2 win on Friday and 6-5 overtime win on Saturday. Lessard had a career-high four assists to open the weekend and added an assist on Saturday.
The Union commit has 37 points (5-32-39) this season, which ranks second among USHL blue liners. He also owns a plus-18 rating over his 49 games and is one of several players that’s led Lincoln to the top of the USHL standings.
The Stars are currently 36-12-1 and hold a seven-point lead over Sioux Falls atop the Western Conference. Lincoln’s 73 points and .745 win percentage both lead all USHL clubs.
As for Zajic, the right-shot forward had seven points (4-3-7), six of which came on Saturday. Zajic scored three of the NTDP’s six goals and led the U17s to a 6-3 win over Omaha. It was just Zajic’s second multi-goal USHL game of the season and first career hat trick.
The Wisconsin commit has 13 goals and 19 points through 28 USHL games this season.
Rounding out the group is Peck, who led Muskegon to a pair of wins over Cedar Rapids. Peck made 16 saves in Friday’s 3-1 win and another 28 on Saturday in a 4-1 win.
The Michigan commit finished the weekend 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and .954 save percentage. Peck is 14-5-2-3 on the season with a 2.57 GAA and .906 save percentage.
