A pair of Madison Capitols were recognized for their Week 9 performances on Monday alongside Youngstown goaltender Melvin Strahl

The USHL announced its ninth Players of the Week on Monday as Madison forward Ryker Lee, Madison defenseman Colton Jamieson and Youngstown goaltender Melvin Strahl took home the respective honors for Week 9.

It’s the second honor of the season for Jamieson – Week 3 being the other – and the first for both Lee and Strahl. It’s also the fourth time a team has had multiple honorees as Madison (Week 5 and 9) and Green Bay (Week 3 and 8) have both done so twice.

Lee continued his torrid start to the season as the 2025 NHL Draft prospect leads the USHL with 21 points and is tied for the USHL goal lead with 10. Lee scored four times and added an assist on Friday as Madison skated to a 12-1 win over the NTDP U17 squad. The 12 goals set a Tier-1 franchise record and Lee’s five points were the most by one player in a USHL game this season.

The Michigan State commit wasn’t done either, as he added another goal and assist in Saturday’s 5-4 win over the U17’s. Lee’s goal came in the final second of regulation and was his second game-winning tally of the season.

The right-shot forward also finished the weekend with a plus-4 rating and 13 shots. He was named to the 2024 U.S. Junior Select Team roster earlier in the week too, which will compete in the World Junior A Challenge next month.

Lee wasn’t the only Capitol recognized on Monday either, as Jamieson turned in a productive weekend on the blue line. The St. Thomas commit is now tied for third among USHL defensemen with 12 points on the season.

Jamieson had four shots on goal and was a plus-3 in Friday’s win and followed it up with two goals and an assist on Saturday. It was his first career multi-goal effort. He was also a plus-2 in Saturday’s win, making him a plus-5 on the weekend and plus-3 on the season. Madison is 8-2-0 over its last 10 and currently sits third in the Eastern Conference.

Rounding out the group is Strahl, as the Columbus Blue Jackets pick recorded his first USHL shutouts and picked up a pair of wins.

Strahl went a perfect 17-for-17 on Friday as Youngstown skated to a 4-0 win over Cedar Rapids. He followed it up with 20 more saves on Sunday in a 2-1 win over the NTDP U18.

The Swedish netminder is now 8-4-0 on the season with a .902 save percentage and 2.31 GAA, and Youngstown has won five straight. Strahl is a Michigan State commit.
