Artemi Nizameyev, Caeden Herrington and AJ Reyelts were recognized by the USHL Monday afternoon for their Week 11 performances
The USHL announced its 11th Players of the Week on Monday as Tri-City forward Artemi Nizameyev, Lincoln defenseman Caeden Herrington and Cedar Rapids goaltender AJ Reyelts took home the respective honors for Week 11.
It’s the first honor of the season for all three and the second consecutive week a Storm forward has been honored. Nolan Roed did so in Week 10.
Nizameyev continues his torrid start to the season as the Miami commit leads the USHL in goals (17), points (29) and game-winning goals (6) through 24 games.
Nizameyev picked up seven (4-3-7) of those 29 points this past weekend as Tri-City swept a pair of games at Green Bay. He scored twice and picked up a first-period assist in Friday’s 6-4 win over the Gamblers, followed by two goals and two assists in Saturday’s 5-2 win. Nizameyev netted the eventual game-winner both nights.
The right-shot forward already has a career-high goal total after scoring four during the 2022-23 season and 16 last winter. Nizameyev has 37-55-92 over 126 career regular season games – all of which have come with Tri-City.
While the Storm earned those two wins in Green Bay, Tri-City opened last week with a 5-0 loss in Lincoln, and two of the five goals came from Herrington. The Vermont commit added another goal on Saturday as the Stars earned a 4-3 win over Sioux City.
Herrington has scored in three straight games and has 8-4-12 over 18 games this season. Five of his eight goals have come on the power play too, which is tied for second among all USHL skaters. Herrington’s eight goals also lead all USHL defensemen while his 12 points rank ninth.
Rounding out the group is Reyelts, as the Minnesota native led Cedar Rapids to a pair of wins over Waterloo – 3-1 on Thursday and 2-1 on Saturday.
Reyelts made 26 saves in Thursday’s Thanksgiving showdown, silencing Waterloo’s home crowd. He followed it up with another 31 on Saturday – 25 of which came over the final two periods – and extended his win streak to three starts. Cedar Rapids was out-shot 32-15 in the win.
The Lindenwood commit is 7-5-1 this season with an .897 save percentage and 2.84 GAA. Reyelts posted a 1.00 GAA and .966 save percentage in Week 11.
