The Sioux Falls Stampede have officially announced that head coach Eric Rud will not be offered a contract renewal for the 2024-25 season.

"These decisions are never easy, but the organization as a whole felt that a change needed to be made," said Stampede Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Tony Gasparini in a release. "We thank Eric for all of his hard work and dedication over the last two seasons and wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."

Rud served as the head coach of the team for two years and achieved a record of 51-59-14 during his tenure. In the 2023-24 season, he led the team to the postseason for the first time since 2019 but lost in the first round of the 2024 Clark Cup Playoffs to the Tri-City Storm.

Prior to his position as head coach of Sioux Falls, Rud served as Associate Head Coach for Miami University (Ohio) from 2019-20 to 2021-22. He also held the position of head coach for St. Cloud State's women's hockey program for five seasons between 2014-15 and 2018-19.

Furthermore, Rud worked as the general manager and head coach of the Green Bay Gamblers during the 2010-11 season. He also served as an assistant coach for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders between the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.

The Herd are set to announce Rud's replacement early this coming week.
