Jack Parsons of the Chicago Steel picked up a Goaltender of the Week award, while Tanner Henricks and Bruno Idzan of the Lincoln Stars earned the other two honors.
The Chicago Steel and Lincoln Stars were represented in this week’s USHL Player of the Week awards, for games played Jan. 27-Feb. 2, 2025. Two of them came from Lincoln.
Chicago swept a two-game weekend series with the Tri-City Storm, and Parsons dazzled in both games.
The Providence College commit stopped 38 of 39 shots in a 3-1 win over the Storm Jan. 31, snapping Chicago’s 11-game road winless streak. It was just the second time the Steel allowed one goal in a game, the other coming on Oct. 5, 2024 in an overtime win over the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Parsons followed up that performance with 30 saves in a 5-2 triumph over Tri-City. The two-game sweep marked the third time this season Parsons has recorded wins in consecutive starts and the second time he recorded 30 or more saves in consecutive victories.
The road wins moved the Steel’s point streak to a season-long three games.
The Ithaca, N.Y. native has four wins in his last seven starts with a 2.50 goals-against average over that span. The GOTW award is the first by Chicago this season and the second weekly honor received by a Steel player this season.
The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect got the primary assist on Lincoln’s first two goals in a 6-5 road victory over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Jan. 31. He extended his point streak to five games with another helper in the Stars’ 6-1 win over Dubuque the following night, also on the road.
Henricks was held scoreless on Feb. 2 in a 4-3 win over Sioux City, but finished a stretch of three games in three days with a +2 rating.
Henricks was heavily relied upon during the three-game weekend, as the Stars dressed only five blueliners for Saturday and Sunday. He led the team in ice time at 27:10 at Dubuque and logged 22:51 the next day at Sioux City.
The St. Cloud State commit has recorded 13 points (1-12-13) over his last 13 games.
Idzan picked up two primary assists in Lincoln’s win at Cedar Rapids, then notched a goal and a pair of primary helpers in the victory at Dubuque. He had a hand in three straight goals to increase the Stars’ lead to 4-1 against the Saints.
In the win at Sioux city, Idzan had two goals and added another primary assist. One of those goals was the game-winner at 15:27 of the third period.
For the week, Idzan tied USHL skaters in points (8) with Waterloo’s Teddy Townsend. He also registered 11 shots and a +7 rating.
The perfect road trip extended the Stars’ win streak to nine games. This week’s awards by Henricks and Idzan mark the third time in four weeks that Stars players have earned USHL Player of the Week honors.
