My three stars from Friday's USHL preseason action, including forward Isac Nielsen's four-point night for the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Stats: 1 G, 3 A, 4 P, 4 shots, +3
Nielsen was all over the ice on Friday night. The 20-year-old cleaned up a rebound in the second period for his first preseason goal. Nielsen followed with two primary helpers on Rudolfs Berzkalns' and Jake Merens' goals, which came just 40 seconds apart. The Swedish forward added his third assist and fourth point of the night on Ryan Aaronson's marker in the third period.
Stats: 2 G, 1 A, 3 P, 4 shots, +1
Jefferis led all skaters with two goals, three points, and four shots on goal. The 19-year-old picked up the primary assist on Jackson Crowder's snipe that opened the scoring. Jefferis then scored back-to-back goals on plays in front of the net in the second and third periods to put the game out of reach.
Stats: 1 G, 0 A, 1 P, 3 shots, Shootout Winner
The early return on Sam Laurila's offensive abilities is already paying dividends. The North Dakota commit doubled up Fargo's lead early in the first period after taking the puck hard to the net to beat the goaltender. Laurila also tallied the lone goal in the shootout and led all Force defensemen with three shots on goal—a solid showing for the young blueliner on Friday night.
