Recapping all of Saturday's preseason action around the USHL

Omaha 3, Fargo 2

Fargo took a 1-0 lead on Samuel Huck's shorthanded goals at the 6:45 mark of the first period. Omaha scored three straight goals in the second period, beginning with Caden Lee's shorthanded marker 95 seconds into the frame. Dakotah Bailey scored his second goal in as many games just over five minutes later. Sam Scheetz scored on a 2-on-1 rush in transition at 11:24 with an assist from Nicholas Sykora. Late in the second period, Farglo's Felix Haibock scored with an assist from Malachi McKinnon to make it a one-goal game. However, the scoreboard would remain that way until the final horn.

Sioux Falls 8, Sioux City 3

Despite falling behind 1-0 less than two minutes into the game, the Sioux Falls Stampede ripped off four straight goals en route to an 8-3 win over the Sioux City Musketeers. Ethan Wyttenbach tied the game at one less than eight minutes into the first period, his first of two goals in the game. Hunter Anderson scored back-to-back goals. Brock James followed with his first of the preseason to make it 4-1 in favor of the Herd. Tate Pritchard brought the Muskies within a goal late in the frame. However, Sioux Falls scored four straight goals spanning the second and third periods, including Wyttenbach's second of the night. John McNelis also notably scored his first of the exhibition schedule.

Tri-City 4, Des Moines 1

The Tri-City Storm used a two-goal third period to skate past the Des Moines Buccaneers, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon. Brandt Harper opened the scoring with under three minutes left in the first period. Carson Pilgrim doubled up the Storm's lead early in the middle frame. Aiden Grossklaus got Des Moines on the board late in the period. However, the Storm pulled away in the final 20 minutes, with goals from Luke Drury, who finished tied for a team-high three shots on goal, and rookie tender Ilya Morozov.

Chicago 3, Muskegon 0

Jack Parsons and Louka Cloutier combined for a 36-save shutout in the Chicago Steel's 3-0 win on Saturday. Teddy Mutryn opened the scoring midway through the first period on a pass from Shayne Gould. Owen Tylec scored two goals in the third period, including the empty-netter with 61 seconds left in regulation. Of note, Charlie Pardue appeared to have scored his first in a Steel sweater. However, the goal was overturned due to a high-sticking penalty.

Cedar Rapids 6, Dubuque 3

The RoughRiders scored four times in the first 20 minutes, including two goals from Amini Hajibi. Landan Resendes and Isaac Johnson also found the back of the net on plays in transition. Dubuque came within a goal, scoring three straight, including Lucas Van Vliet's second of the preseason in the second period and Josh Niedermayer and Melvin Ekman's markers in the third. However, Loa Milfors restored Cedar Rapids' two-goal lead late in regulation before Heath Nelson hit the empty net.

Waterloo 2, Madison 1

Despite registering just 16 shots on goal, the Waterloo Black Hawks topped the Madison Capitols, 2-1, on Saturday. Brock Schultz opened the scoring for Waterloo late in the first period. Kaeden Hawkins doubled the lead early in the middle frame with his first of the preseason. Alex Lunski pulled the Caps within a goal with two minutes left in the second period. However, the third period went scoreless. Calvin Vachon stopped 28-of-29 shots on goal for Waterloo.
