    Recapping notable games around the USHL on Saturday, October 19

    The Lincoln Stars used two second-period goals and held off a late comeback to complete the weekend sweep over the Youngstown Phantoms.

    Michael Mesic opened the scoring on a play in transition and rifled a shot from the left-wing circle into the back of the net. The goal marked Mesic's second of the year and came just 24 seconds into the game.

    Lincoln answered just over three minutes later on Lefty Markonidis' third goal of the year. Daniel Shlaine picked up the primary assist on the goal and added another in the second period.

    Jack Pechar gave the Stars a 2-1 lead early in the second period. Blake Montgomery (OTT) made it a 3-1 game late in the frame.

    Muskegon 4, NTDP U17s 0

    The Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated the NTDP U17s 4-0 behind a three-goal second period. The Jacks outshot the U17s 37-13.

    Teddy Spitznagel opened the scoring just 58 seconds into the middle frame. The goal marked Spitznagel's third in the last four games.

    Cooper Pierson followed with his first of the year less than one minute later. Tynan Lawrence made it a 3-0 Jacks lead with his fourth goal.

    Vaclav Nestrasil tallied his first career USHL goal in the third period.Goaltender Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev turned aside all 13 shots.

    Madison 6, Chicago 4

    The Madison Capitols scored three times in the third period en route to a 6-4 final score over the Chicago Steel. With the win, the Caps completed the weekend sweep.

    Egor Barabanov, acquired by Madison less than two weeks ago, tallied a hat trick. Bobby Cowan also recorded two goals.

    Diego Johnson found the back of the net as part of a two-goal first period for Madison. Johnson now has goals in four straight games.

    Four different skaters scored for the Steel, including Alexandar Hage, who recorded his first career USHL goal.

    Caps netminder Caleb Heil stopped 22-of-27.

    Elsewhere

    Dubuque saw six different skaters find the back of the net. Jan Spunar stopped all 22 shots.

    Tri-City held off a late comeback from Sioux Falls. Tender signing Ilya Morozov scored his first career USHL goal.

    Sioux City blanked Green Bay 2-0 behind a two-goal third period. Landen Gunderson's goal proved to be the game-winner.

    Omaha has won four straight games now. Grant Dillard scored two to back the Lancers 4-1 win over Cedar Rapids.
