While there were only two World Junior games on Monday, both featured plenty of exciting moments. Each game featured one WHLer, with both Asanali Sarkenov and David Lewandowski finding the back of the net. Here is a look at all the action from December 30.
Kazakhstan and Slovakia played arguably the best game of the 2025 World Juniors. Down 4-2 late in the third, Kazakhstan scored twice shorthanded, forcing the game to overtime. Unfortunately for Kazakhstan, they were unable to capture a victory, falling in extra time. As for Sarkenov, the Spokane Chiefs forward had a goal and 29 penalty minutes during his 13:59 of ice time.
Despite tying the game late, Germany fell 4-3 to Latvia in overtime. Since Germany was unable to win in regulation, they will now play in the relegation game against either Kazakhstan or Switzerland. As mentioned, Saskatoon Blades' Lewandowski did find the back of the net, finishing the game with three shots in 15:45 of ice time.
