Welcome to this edition of the 2024-25 WHL Awards prediction. In this monthly article, THN's WHL team takes a look at which players are the favourites to take home awards at the end of the season. Here is a look at which players have stood out as of the end of November.

    Player of the Year:

Dawson Petryshen: Gavin McKenna, Medicine Hat Tigers

Adam Kierszenblat: Andrew Cristall, Kelowna Rockets

While there are plenty of candidates for this year's Player of the Year, two of the early favourites are Medicine Hat Tigers' Gavin McKenna and Kelowna Rockets' Andrew Cristall. While McKenna leads the league with 55 points in 27 games, Cristall does have an advantage in points per game at 2.61. Two of the league's most talented players, McKenna and Cristall could be teammates later this year with Team Canada at the 2025 World Juniors

    Rookie of the Year:

Dawson Petryshen: Gavin Garland, Tri-City Americans

Adam Kierszenblat: Landon DuPont, Everett Silvertips

The battle for Rookie of the Year is a battle that keeps heating up. Gavin Garland is the current leader in points with 29 in 24 games, but Exceptional Status defenceman Landon DuPont is right behind him with 24 in 23 games. This award could come down to the wire as these two U.S. Division rivals battle it out for the rest of the year.

    Defenceman of the Year:

Dawson Petryshen: Caden Price, Kelowna Rockets

Adam Kierszenblat: Bryce Pickford, Medicine Hat Tigers

This season, there is plenty of debate surrounding who the best defenceman in the league is. Two of the favourites are Caden Price and Bryce Pickford, who are both over a point per game. Price leads all defenceman with 31 points in 26 games, while Pickford is the only defender with double-digit goals as he currently sits with 12 in 24 games. With both players playing with a potential Player of the Year, their point totals should continue to grow throughout the season.

    Goaltender of the Year:

Dawson Petryshen: Evan Gardner, Saskatoon Blades

Adam Kierszenblat: Alex Worthington, Edmonton Oil Kings

Evan Gardner and Alex Worthington have been fantastic to start the season. Both have over ten wins and a save percentage above .910. If they can keep up this strong play, it will be a tough debate to decide who the Eastern Conference nominee for Goaltender of the Year is.
