The Calgary Hitmen have acquired Regina Pats captain and Pittsburgh Penguins left-winger Tanner Howe. In return, the Regina Pats will receive defenceman Reese Hamilton, forward Keets Fawcett, a second-round pick in 2027, and a third-round pick in 2025. This is the second trade this week in which the Hitmen have acquired an NHL draft prospect, with the organization also trading for Kalem Parker on November 17.

Howe brings plenty of experience and goal-scoring ability to Calgary. Drafted 46th overall by the Penguins in 2024, Howe had 98 goals and 240 points in 217 games. He has been the Pats captain the last two seasons and is up to six goals and seven points in ten games this season.

In return, the Pats received two players plus two draft picks. Hamilton is a 2025 draft prospect who could go in the first round this year. In 20 games so far this season, he has three points and has won multiple Gold Medals with Team Canada.

As for Fawcett, he is an 18-year-old forward who has spent his entire career with the Calgary. In 19 games this season, Fawcett has two goals along with seven points. In 84 career games, Fawcett has 21 goals, along with 52 points during his WHL career.
