The legend of Gavin McKenna continues to grow. On Friday, the Medicine Hat Tigers forward extended his point streak to 50 games, which ties the CHL record for the longest in the modern era (2000-2025). The only other player to achieve the feat was Quebec Remparts forward Alexander Radulov, who hit the milestone during the 2005-06 season and playoffs.

Over his 50 games, McKenna has recorded an astounding 124 points. To put that in perspective, only 36 players in the WHL have recorded over 124 regular season points since the start of the 2023-24 season. McKenna is projected to go first overall in 2026 and, once drafted, would become the fourth player from Whitehorse to be selected in the NHL Entry Draft.

McKenna's point streak has spanned 40 regular-season games, as well as ten in the 2025 WHL Playoffs. Over the first 40 games, McKenna recorded 32 goals, 68 assists and 100 points. As for the post-season, through ten games, seven goals, 17 assists and 24 points.

After a commanding 5-2 victory on Friday, McKenna and Medicine Hat will be looking to extend their series lead against the Lethbridge Hurricanes to 2-0 on Saturday night. Through the first two rounds, the Tigers have lost just one game, which came in Game 3 of the first round. Puck drop for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final is scheduled for 7:00 pm MT from Co-op Place.
