Welcome to THN's "WHL Standouts From The Week" article. In this weekly column, we highlight one player from each division who impressed over the last week. Here is a look at the four standouts from week 21.
Teydon Trembecky has become a leader for the Victoria Royals this season. The 2005-born winger had five points in two games this week, which included a multi-goal effort on Valentine's Day against the Vancouver Giants. With 69 points in 55 games, Trembecky has played a key role in helping Victoria ascend to the top of the B.C. Division.
With all the talent the Medicine Hat Tigers have assembled, it is sometimes easy to forget about goaltender Jordan Switzer. That is a mistake, as the 2007-born goaltender is 20-6-2 on the season and put together a fantastic week where he stopped 54 of 55 shots. Between Switzer and Harrison Meneghin, the Tigers have built a goaltending tandem that can rival any other in the WHL.
What a week it was for Seattle Thunderbirds goaltender Scott Ratzlaff. The Buffalo Sabres prospect went 3-0-0 and stopped 93 of the 97 shots he faced. With 82 wins in his WHL career, Ratzlaff moves into a tie for 63rd all-time and needs just five more to enter the top 50 in WHL history.
Lukas Dragicevic continues to have a strong first season with the Prince Albert Raiders. The Seattle Kraken prospect had five points in three games, which was accompanied by nine shots on goal. With 61 points in 50 games, Dragicevic is finding his groove and has played a crucial role for Prince Albert this season.
