Craig Button projects that ten WHLers could make Team Canada's World Junior team.
With the 2025 World Juniors less than two months away, conversations surrounding what Team Canada will look like have already begun. Once again, the WHL is expected to play a key role for the Canadians, as the roster should feature plenty of talent from the West. Here is a look at TSN's Craig Button's projected roster, which features ten players from the WHL.
Starting with the forwards, Button has four WHLers making the team. The four forwards are Tij Iginla, Gavin McKenna, Brayden Yager and Berkly Catton, who are all off to hot starts this season. As for surprising omissions, that list includes Riley Heidt, Andrew Cristall and Terik Parascak.
Like the forward group, the blue line is projected to have four WHLers. The four defencemen listed are Tanner Molendyk, Carter Yakemchuk, Caden Price, and Sawyer Mynio. Other names to keep an eye on are Tarin Smith, Kaden Hammell, and Lukas Dragicevic.
Lastly, two of the three goaltenders are projected to be from the WHL. Scott Ratzlaff is the projected starter, while Joshua Ravensbergen will be in contention for the backup role. Evan Gardner and Carson Bjarnason could also be in contention for one of the three spots.
