The Western Hockey League unvieled its first edition of monthly honors for the 2024-25 season.

With October in the books, it's time to recognize who did the most throughout the first month of the season. The WHL has released their picks for the player, rookie, and goaltender of the month.
Player of the Month- Gavin McKenna (Medicine Hat Tigers)
After a slow start to the first few games of the season (by his standards) McKenna went on a tear for the remainder of the month, collecting eight multi-point games in 11 contests for a total of 21 points in those games. Now sitting at the top of the league in scoring, the Whitehorse product shows no signs of slowing down.
Rookie of the Month- Landon DuPont (Everett Silvertips)
Was this one really up for debate? Coming into the WHL as a 15-year-old defenceman and currently perched safely inside the top 40 in scoring league wide, DuPont has done nothing but excite and impress since he got here. The exceptional status defender's ceiling continues to rise, especially due to being a part of such a great Silvertips squad.
Goalie of the Month- Jesse Sanche (Everett Silvertips)
Another very solid player simply enhanced by behing on a good team, Sanche's numbers (especially of late) have been fantastic. The Silvertips netminder has been a wall, leading the league in both save percentage (.932) and goals against average, by a considerable margin (1.71). He does all this while still playting the sixth most minutes in the league, and has become the team's workhorse.
