Eleven teams with a representative looking for an opportunity to attend the largest U18 tournament in the world.

Hockey Canada announced on Tuesday their preliminary roster for the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, and 13 WHL players are hoping to secure their spot for the August showcase.

Forwards:

Joby Baumuller (Brandon Wheat Kings)
Benjamin Kindel (Calgary Hitmen)
Kadon McCann, Gavin McKenna (Medicine Hat Tigers)
Cole Temple (Regina Pats)
Braeden Cootes (Seattle Thunderbirds)
Cameron Schmidt (Vancouver Giants)
Cole Reschny (Victoria Royals)

Defencemen:

Reese Hamilton (Calgary)
William Sharpe (Lethbridge Hurricanes)
Connor Schmidt (Moose Jaw Warriors)
Peyton Kettles (Swift Current Broncos)
Jackson Smith (Tri-City Americans)

While this roster is headlined by top talent Gavin McKenna (as well as the only 2026 draft eligible player in the WHL selected to camp) longtime teammates Reese Hamilton and Cole Reschny come together once again; having spent time in the NAX U15 and U16 programs, as well as a U18 season in Saskatchewan. The pair also competed for the Saskatchewan Jr. Pats in the 2017 Brick Invitational.

Camp is slated to begin on July 27 in Calgary, Alta. at the Winsport Event Centre.

The Hlinka Gretzky Cup runs from August 5-10 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alta.
